About us

How we began

Music connects people regardless of their walks of life. We noticed that individuals with diverse needs clearly benefit from engaging, interactive music sessions, and that the opportunities to take part in one are limited.

What started as a shared enthusiasm for music and for service turned into a volunteer organization that runs those sessions. We build interactive, enriching musical experiences that celebrate what each person can do.

What we are trying to do

Miracle Melodies exists to enrich the lives of children and individuals with special needs and disabilities through inclusive, volunteer-led music. We want to make room for creativity, for social connection, and for the plain enjoyment of it.

The other half of the mission points at our own volunteers. They are students, and we want them to leave having learned how to serve their community with empathy and respect.

Our programs are built to complement the work of specialized educators, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. In practice that means sessions that encourage participation, and rooms where everyone present feels valued and included.

Miracle Melodies is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

“As someone on the autism spectrum, I have experienced firsthand how music can soothe and provide a sense of calm during the most overwhelming moments.”

The founder’s note

Why belonging matters to me

Miracle Melodies came out of a personal belief about music: that it can bring comfort, connection, and joy to the people who need it most.

Whether I was playing an instrument, singing, or simply listening, music has always been the thing that lets me feel grounded. That experience is the reason this group exists. I wanted other people to have the same sense of belonging, whatever their age, ability, or needs.

Belonging means feeling welcomed, understood, and included. Enacting that is the whole point.

Through music, compassion, and community, we hope to make moments of happiness, care, and connection possible for people who are not always offered them.

You don’t need to be a brilliant musician. Patience and enthusiasm get you further than technique, and we train you before you lead anything.
